Sirs Ian Mckellen and Patrick Stewart may be bitter enemies in the X-Men franchise, but the Days of Future Past stars are the best of friends in the real world. As a matter of fact, Sir Mckellen even served as the minister of Stewart’s wedding last year. Now the two geek icons are "jocking out” for the Super Bowl. The acting legends are dawning rival jerseys in a recent Twitter photo while gearing up for the big football game...However, there is only one problem with their picture.
Ah, Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian Mckellen, how you entertain us so. The real life super best buds and legendary geek icons are gearing up for the big game this weekend.
However, they seem to have the wrong football. In a new Twitter photo, Mckellen and Stewart are both wearing American Football Jerseys while holding a soccer ball (That is right, SOCCER! Get over it the rest of the world, this is America).
Meanwhile, on the more comfortable geeky side of things, the pair are reprising their roles in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. This time the legends are sharing the screen with their younger selves.
During a recent interview with Wall Street Journal, Mckellen and Stewart were asked if they synced their performances with Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy. Mckellen responded by saying:
"no, it’s up to them to sync with us. We came first!"
He later added:
"I think he made it clear he wanted to be his own Magneto, and that suits the nature of the story and his part in it."
Stewart also chimed in saying that he hadn’t heard anything about the upcoming 2016 sequel X-Men: Apocalypse:
"I know nothing about it.” He asked Mckellen, “Has anybody called you? Are you keeping something from me?"
Mckellen also joked:
"No, I know nothing about it. Which probably means we're not in it."
