‘Firefly’ Simon Tam, Sean Maher Talks ‘Arrow’s’ Suicide Squad and Nightwing Casting [SPOILERS]

Sean Maher is best known around the verse as Simon Tam from Joss Whedon's short lived series, Firefly. However, fans of the hit CW show Arrow got a bit of the actor last week, when he guest starred as the villain Shrapnel. Now Maher is teasing a future appearance in the Suicide Squad and his recent casting in Nightwing, Dick Grayson.

Warning Spoilers for Arrow Follow

Arrow is one of the hottest of shows on TV. The series has been building up all year to the formation of the Suicide Squad.

In the comics, the Suicide Squad is a group of criminals that are released from prison in order to work for the government. In exchange for their freedom, they must go on deadly missions.

During the last episode of Arrow, Amanda Waller approached The Bronze Tiger to join the Squad. However, there are many other members of the Suicide Squad already on the show, including Deadshot.

Most recently, Sean Maher guest starred as Shrapnel, a comic book member of the Squad. In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, he revealed that Sharpnel will be joining the Squad on the show:

“I truly didn't understand who Shrapnel or the Suicide Squad were. That was all news to me. I had very limited knowledge of Shrapnel, but Andrew was amazing and forthcoming with a ton of information and pictures and the comics and all that stuff. He was the one who enlightened me.”

He went on to add that he is also voicing Dick Grayson, A.K.A. Nightwing, in an unnamed DC animated feature:

"I would love any of them, really. Yeah, I've been finding my place in the DC Universe. I'm doing DC animated features. I've been doing the voice of Dick Grayson. It's funny, because I'm like, ‘Here I am in the DC comic book world and my dear friend [Joss Whedon], who I love so much, is the king of the Marvel world.’ I love the comic book and sci-fi genre. For me, as an actor, they allow you to step into the world of imagination because it supersedes reality.”
