Tom Hiddleston is one of the hottest stars out today. Best known for his role as the Thor and Avengers villain Loki in the Marvel movies, Hiddleston is also an accomplished stage actor. His latest project Coriolanus returns the actor to the stage, however, that doesn’t mean that his performance won’t be seen on the big screen. The play is getting a special movie release tonight. Now audiences everywhere will be getting to see Hiddleston’s shower scene. The actor can also be seen working out in a shirtless preview video.
Tom Hiddleston's performance of Shakespeare's Cornelius at the Donmar Warehouse in London will be in select cinemas starting tonight, January 30, 2013. This is only the second show in Donmar Warehouse history to receive the honor of a movie theater release.
That means you don’t have to head on over to Donmar in order to see Tom Hiddleston shower on stage. However, it isn’t going to be as sexy as it sounds.
Hiddleston will be washing out his battle wounds on stage. Hiddleston recently spoke with Bazar, about the scene.
“Make-up is crucial because the writing of the play specifically references the bruised, battered and scarred body of Coriolanus. There’s a scene when he refuses to reveal his wounds to the people in the marketplace, even though that’s what’s required of him to become a politician. Because those injuries are so important, we added a part where Coriolanus has a brief and painful shower and the audience can see the true extent of my wounds. To prepare for this my body is covered in paint, latex and stage blood, which takes about an hour to put on. It's so thrilling because when I reveal my body and the wounds, I’ve heard the audience wince. It’s a very important moment because then, when he stands on the senate, the audience believes that he has a right to be there.”
Meanwhile, you can check out a special preview video of Hiddleston getting his makeup applied and working out before a show.
