The Four Seasons Performing Arts Center Toronto: Ready for Opera

Il Trovatore seems to a must for opera houses as the season starts to come into full bloom with places like the Metroplotian featuring the piece. The Canada Opera Company is no different. Il Trovatore will make its debut at the Toronto based opera company right around the corner on September the 29 and will run until October 31. One of the great works of Italian writer Giuseppe Verdi, Charles Robaud will be the man charged of renacting Verdi's classic piece as the director. He is joined by conductor Marco Guidarini who will try to give life to the play, set designer Jean-Noel Lavesvre and Katia Duflot the custome designer. Robaud has casted the likes of Ramon Vargas and Riccardo Massi to play Verdi's Manrico. Leonora will be played by Elza van den Heever while the focal point of the play Azucena, will be done by Elena Manistina. Russel Braun will take up the role as Conte di Luna as the antagonist in the play.

Later in the Canadian calendar is Die Fieldermaus and that will start October 4 and will continue until November 3. Presented by Johannes Debus and starring Michael Schade as Gabriel von Einstein with the setting in an early 20th century Vienna.

The start off the New Year will bring shows like Tristian Und Isolde starting on January 29, the visually stunning show will end on February 23. Right on the heels of Peter Sellars latest work, is La Clemenza Di Tito. One of Mozart's final operas, this is a story steeped in betrayal. Johannes Debus combines with Derek Bate to recreate the Austrians piece. Viewing of La Clemenza DI Tito starts February 3 and runs until February 22.

Rounding off the viewing for this period at the Four Seasons Center is Lucia Di Lamermoor April 17 to May 24. Salome Apr 21 to May 22 and Francis Poulenc's chilling Dialogues des Carmelites May 8 to May 25.
