Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ Steals ‘Man of Steel 2’ Release Date After Michael Douglas Hank Pym Casting

Well, it is official folks. Marvel’s Ant-man has taken over the release date that Man of Steel 2 foolishly abandoned. The heist film stole the prime real estate after the Superman sequel decided to abandon the crowded summer 2015 release date. This could not have come at a better time for Ant-man. The upcoming superhero movie recently created a lot of buzz, when they announced that Michael Douglas was being cast to play Hank Pym.

DC’s loss is Marvel’s gain. When Warner Brothers uprooted the upcoming Batman Vs Superman from 2015 and placed it right on top of one of Marvel’s unnamed 2016 films, they left a big hole in the 2015 schedule.

Warner Brothers did plan to fill in the prime real estate with a yet to be titled Peter Pan film, however, that does little for fans of superhero films.

Have no fear. Marvel’s Ant-Man is swooping in to save the day.

The Edgar Wright directed heist film is stealing the abandoned release date. Ant-Man’s new release date is July 17, 2015, two weeks earlier than its original date. Batman Vs Superman has been moved to May 2016.

Meanwhile, Ant-Man also recently made news when it was announced that Michael Douglas will be playing Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man.

Marvel's President of Production and sulton of conversation, Kevin Feige, released a statement to the press about casting the 69-year-old actor in the action film:

“With Hank Pym's rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves. We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn't be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life."
