22 singer Taylor Swift has become pretty comfortable accepting awards. She has had so many laurels and accolades heaped upon her, that she is starting to think all the awards are hers. Or, at least that's what it looked like at the Grammy’s last night, when the singer shot out of her seat to accept Album of the Year for her songs on Red. The was just one little hiccup. Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories was announced as the winner instead of the country starlets.
Much to her own chagrin, Taylor Swift leapt from her seat at the very first sound of her album Red being named Album of the Year at last night’s Grammy’s that she was on her feet before the the words were in her ears.
Which is too bad, because the words were pretty important to determine who had actually won. As it turns out, the real winners were Daft Punk with their new album Random Access Memories.
Don’t feel too bad for Swift though. She has already had a year steeped in praise.
The star who has become known in Nashville for her philanthropy was recently named top Tennessean of the Year by her hometown newspaper.
Even the mayor Karl Dean took time to acknowledge not only Swift’s contributions but the overall beneficial effect her presence has on Music City (via Billboard):
“She’s one of the most dynamic and popular musical performers in the world, and she's perceived as having universal appeal across categories. She transcends genres, and that's a great thing for the city.”
Keep you chin up Taye Taye, there is always next year.
