Tonight is the night that Fox’s cult thriller, The Following, returns to it’s normal night and time. The hit series, starring Kevin Bacon, debuted it’s second season premiere last Sunday to amazing ratings. Now the real test is on. Can the show hold up as well on Monday night?
The first episode of Fox’s The Following debuted to spectacular ratings. Premiering after a Super Bowl-deciding lead in from the NFL, the series opened with an impressive 33 million viewers.
That is an huge difference from the first season’s average of 12 million. Now the series is heading back into its normal time slot. Taking the spot that Sleepy Hollow once held, Monday night’s at 8 p.m.
No matter what day of the week the show comes on, it still promises to have the same blood and gore from week to week.
The Following creator and executive producer, Kevin Williamson , recently opened up about the series' graphic violence on the recent Winter TV Tour:
“I don’t shy away from violence. But I also never, ever just want to be gore for the sake of gore. It’s always to shock and push the story forward and make you gasp, and also make you truly be afraid and truly be scared of these characters and the situation. And so it really is just what the situation, what the story line, calls for. I don’t really see that it’s gory. I guess it’s subjective. I’m sorry I don’t have a better answer. But I like a little violence, sorry.”
