Wicked Frozen Idina Menzel Performs 'Annie on Broadway;' Divorces 10 Year Husband Taye Diggs

Idina Menzel, best known her role as Elphaba in the original Broadway run of Wicked, is riding high on the wave of Frozen success, but not so high that she has lost sight of what matters. The 42-year-old star, who is going through a messy public divorce with husband of 10 years Taye Diggs, stopped by the Living for Today benefit concert to sing her favorite childhood song "Tomorrow” from the musical Annie.

Idina Menzel has been the center of attention since her animated hit Frozen has blown up the box office.

That doesn’t mean she isn’t willing to shine a little bit of her limelight on a good cause. Menzel dropped in on the Living for Today concert which benefits the Gilana Shira Alpert Fund, a program the supports education that promotes equality and acceptance.

Menzel showed up at the concert, according to Just Jared, to sing her favorite Broadway hit growing up:

“Over the weekend, Idina was a surprise guest at the Living for Today concert at Joe’s Pub and she sang the classic Annie song 'Tomorrow,' which was her favorite song as a kid.”

Idina has also been working on her completely original new D.C. musical If/Then. Idina is playing the center role of a woman trying to find herself, according to the star in Inquirer.net:

“It’s a beautiful piece,It’s 100-percent original, and it’s about a woman my age who comes back from Phoenix, Arizona, to New York City, where she went to school. She’s getting a chance to start over. The music is just beautiful.”

Sounds like she might be trying to crowbar her way into the upcoming Annie movie.
