Well folks, you can stop staring at your tickets hoping that the numbers will magically change. There were no winning tickets matching last night's grand prize. However, the numbers for this week's Powerball grand prize has shot up. Check the power preview below to see what the grand totals are for this Wednesday's drawing, so you can decide if you are going to buy a ticket for the big game.

The amount for this week’s Powerball drawing has reached an impressive $171 million. The estimated cash value is a whopping $97.6 mil.

The Powerball Lottery website is telling the stories of several recent winners, including the couple that won big on Christmas night:

"A Kansas City couple undoubtedly had their best Christmas ever after finding out they won the $71.5 million Powerball jackpot, the sixth-largest Lottery prize ever sold in Missouri. Kevin Carlson, 49, and his wife claimed the prize at the Lottery's Jefferson City headquarters on Dec. 26. Carlson also celebrated his birthday on Dec. 27, one day after discovering the win.

"Carlson, a mechanic, said he bought Missouri Lottery tickets often when he made his usual stop at Autobahn BP, 7538 N.W. Prairie View Road in Platte Woods."
However, despite the recent big wins, the website officials still urge gamers to play responsibly:

"Lottery games are just that--games. Lottery games are designed to be enjoyable entertainment for adults, and for the vast majority of lottery players, that's exactly what they are. Multi-State Lottery members sell lottery tickets for the benefits of their citizens, raising millions of dollars for worthy causes and projects.

"The Multi-State Lottery Association encourages all lottery players to be responsible in their amount of play. Never spend more than you can afford on any lottery product. Please remember, it's just a game.

"The Multi-State Lottery Association supports the efforts of the National Council on Problem Gambling to provide help for persons who may have a gambling problem. If you or someone you know has or might have a problem, please call 1-800-522-4700 for help or visit the National Council on Problem Gambling website atwww.ncpgambling.org if you would like additional information on how to get help."
