It is an exciting time for fans of Saturday Night Live. Not only did Drake kick the new year off with a bang last weekend, but they also debuted the long overdue, new black female cast member, Sasheer Zamata, as well as two new black female writers, Lakendra Tookes and Leslie Jones. Be sure to check out the show tonight with the new host, Jonah Hill. Also be sure to check out the show next weekend, when Bridesmaids breakout star Melissa McCarthy hosts the Super Bowl weekend show.
After 6 years, Saturday Night Live finally has a black female cast member that is not Kenan Thompson in drag. Sasheer Zamata debuted last week, during the first show in the 2014 season. Zamata is also joined by two new writers, Leslie Jones and Lakendra Tookes.
You can catch Zamata tonight on an all new episode with host, Jonah Hill.
This will be Hill’s third time hosting. Hill’s latest release was the critically acclaimed The Wolf of Wall Street with Leonardo Dicaprio. Hill’s next big release is The Lego Movie with Marvel’s The Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt.
Next week Melissa McCarthy returns as host for the third time.
The official Saturday Night Live Twitter account broke the news:
“Get excited because #MelissaMcCarthy is set to host #SNL Feb. 1st with musical guest, @imaginedragons!! #CantWait”
McCarthy is likely to be plugging her two new 2014 movies, Tammy with Dan Aykroyd and St. Vincent De Van Nuys with Bill Murray. Hopefully one or both of the stars will join her on the stage. We can only hope.
