Samuel L Jackson has recently opened up about his uncertain future as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leaving fans wondering if the character will die in Avengers 2: The Age Ultron. Warning Potential Spoilers Follow!
Avengers 2: The Age of Ultron is one of the most highly anticipated new films of 2015. The new movie has already promised us a darker tone. That means someone is going to die.
Rumor has it that Captain American, himself, Chris Evans, might be put on ice during the new movie, echoing his character's story arc in the comics.
However, Cap later came back from the grave and became the new head of S.H.I.E.L.D. Could the movies be following this direction instead? If so then what would become of the current top dog, Nick Fury?
During a recent interview with Fandango, Jackson opened up about his future with the franchise, claiming that he has no idea what is in store:
"Nope. None whatsoever. I just know that the Marvel Universe is there, that there are things going on, and that I have three pictures left on my nine-picture deal. That's all I know."
Jackson went on to add that there might be hope of extending his deal:
"I've done six of them. And I'm about to do seven, so I'm running out of Marvel pictures - unless they extend my contract."
Could Marvel be looking to end Jackson contract early? What if they decided to write his character off for a few years only to bring him back for his final two films somewhere down the road?
One thing is for sure, after Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, there will be some major shakeups regarding S.H.I.E.L.D. It is also worth noting that Nick Fury is rumoured to be injured in Cap 2.
