There is no stopping Idina Menzel this year. The 42-year-old Broadway star has set theaters and iPods on fire with her rendition of "Let It Go" from the hit animated movie Frozen. The soundtrack for the film has shot up the charts, while the song has been nominated for an Oscar. Through it all, she has remained gracious and humble as the adoration has mounted, not even letting the stress of her impending divorce to allegedly cheating husband Taye Diggs, put a hitch in her step.
Idina Menzel must be too busy to let all the attention go to her head. While excitement continues to grow around the Oscar nominated song she performed in the hit Frozen, she is already concentrating on her new starring role in a completely original musical in Washington, D.C.
It would be easy for her to try and steal the credit and attention for herself, but instead, she would always rather talk about the people that made her work as good as it could be.
Menzel told Entertainment Weekly that though it was an honor to have the song she performed nominated for an Academy Award, it wasn’t all her doing that made it popular:
“This is definitely a dream come true for me. I’m happy for the movie, I’m happy to be a part of the whole thing, and to have a song that really resonate with people is just beyond...The role of Elsa in this movie went through a lot of incarnations. When they wrote this particular song is when they decided she wasn’t going to be the iconic antagonist—she’s going to be complicated and vulnerable. When I heard it melodically, I was just so excited, but I knew I was in good hands and I was just happy to be along for the ride. Those guys are my friends, and it’s nice to have people that really know you and know your voice and can write with you in mind. There’s nothing better than that.”
You have to wonder what is wrong with Taye Diggs. It seems that a life with grounded bombshell Idina Menzel would be preferable to reportedly cheating with whatever you can find in a club.
