It is the end of an era. After 21-long-years, Alison Sweeney is finally saying goodbye to her Days of our Lives character Sami Brady. Sweeney is leaving her job of two decades to focus on her family and her hosting duties on NBC’s The Biggest Loser. Now many fans are wondering if Sami Brady will die on the soap.
Alison Sweeney decided over two decades of her life to the soap opera, Days of Our Lives. The 37-year-old actress has played the character of Sami Brady for 21 years. Now Sweeney has shocked fans when she announced that she is moving on from the role.
Sweeney, who also hosts The Biggest Loser on NBC, recently told Ellen Degeneres about her plans to leave:
"I'm celebrating my 21st year…and I decided that it's going to be my last year with the show. I have worked so much, and my daughter just turned 5 and my son is 9, and I just want to be with them."
After so many years on the show, it's likely that the series won't try to replace Sweeney with another actress anytime soon. Sweeney went on to speculate about how her character will be written off the show:
"It would be awesome to have some kind of happy ending. But then, I also think Sami probably deserves some sort of very twisted, like Breaking Bad ending."
Does Sweeney’s comments about Breaking Bad suggest that they may kill Sami Brady off. Even if they did kill Sami, it is a soap opera and it leaves the door open for her to return to the role later on down the road.
