Well, it is official. We won't be seeing Wonder Woman in action until 2016, but Captain America’s girlfriend is getting her own series. It has officially been confirmed that ABC Studios is working on an Agent Carter TV show. The spin-off of the Captain America movies is only the beginning. Marvel is also moving ahead with it’s Hell Kitchen Netflix series, including Daredevil.
Despite the lack luster performance of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, ABC is moving ahead with a string of other Marvel related shows. During the recent TV Critics Association winter press tour, ABC Entertainment president Paul Lee said that an Agent Carter show is in the works:
"In terms of Agent Carter, the script's come in. It's a really good script, written by [Christopher] Markus and [Stephen] McFeely, who wrote both Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is due in theaters in April. "So that one certainly has a chance to be on the network."
Lee also went on to talk about the new Hell’s Kitchen heroes series on Netflix:
"We're thrilled to do that deal. Of course that's with our studio, so we with our studio will be co-producing many, many hours that can really deliver for the superfan....We're looking for big, broad plays that we can put on ABC and really make Marvel superfan shows for Netflix. We think it's a great balance, and ABC Studios is excited and really enjoying it, as are Marvel."
The series of four, 13-episode shows will feature Hells Kitchen heroes: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. The shows will also be accompanied by a mini-series based around the team-up group, The Defenders.
Do you think that the Agent Carter series will fair better than Marvel’s Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section at the bottom of the page?
