Well, it is official, Lex Luthor is the newest member of the Justice League. The Superman villain will be joining Batman and his super friends in the pages of the comic starting this April. Meanwhile, we won't be seeing Lex in the Man of Steel 2 anytime soon. The film's release date has been delayed till 2016.
Lex Luthor is perhaps one of the most successful comic book villains of all time. Not only does he go toe to toe with Superman, but he also managed to ascend to the top of the DC universe.
He was once the President of the United States, and now he is also the newest member of the Justice League.
That’s right, Superman’s greatest enemy is now joining the good guys. DC Entertainment’s chief creative officer, Geoff Johns, spoke about the decision to have Luthor switch sides in a press release:
"The Justice League is going to go through a lot of changes, obviously, in the wake of Forever Evil, A lot of the blame can be put on their shoulders for what has happened: They were infiltrated and they fought each other and that led to the unleashing of the Crime Syndicate and the evil that took over the world."
However, Luthor might find that being a superhero is harder than he thought, as Johns goes on to say:
"I think the most interesting thing is that Lex doesn't realize what it's like to be a superhero, what the life is like. You make enemies, they attack you on a personal level. And he's just Lex Luthor. He has no codename, no mask. He has to deal with the ramifications of that."
Meanwhile, we might have to wait a little longer to find out who will play Lex in the new Man of Steel sequel now that the release date has been moved to 2016.
