NBC Announces ‘Peter Pan’ Musical for 2014, Movie Takes ‘Batman Vs Superman’s’ 2015 Release Date

It is finally here! NBC has announced the follow up to 2013’s live broadcast of The Sound of Music. The beloved childhood classic, Peter Pan, will be the next musical in what hopefully will become an annual tradition. Speaking of Peter Pan, a new movie is in the works. Now that Batman Vs Superman has foolishly abandoned there 2015 release date, the new Pan film is swooping in to pick up the prime real estate.

Think happy thoughts everyone, because NBC has just announced the next musical in its planned live broadcast. The beloved classic Peter Pan will grace both stage and screen in December.

Robert Greenblatt, NBC’s Entertainment chairman, made the announcement at the Television Critics Association press tour on Sunday.

"Get ready for flying children and some kind of state-of-the-art light technology for Tinkerbell."

He later joked about the casting saying,"I want Miley Cyrus."

This will be great timing for the franchise, considering that a brand new Peter Pan movie has been announced for the summer of 2015. The new film will be taking over the release date left vacant by Batman Vs Superman.

The official press release by Warner Brothers reads:

“Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that the release of Zack Snyder’s untitled Superman/Batman film has been moved to May 6, 2016, allowing the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story. The decision was made following the shift of the start of production to second quarter of this year. The Studio has also set a July 17, 2015, worldwide release date for its as-yet-untitled all-new Peter Pan adventure. Joe Wright will direct the epic live-action film about the boy who would never grow up, created by J.M. Barrie. The dual date announcement was made by Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President, International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.”
