Tonight Saturday Night Live returns from its seasonal break. The rapper Drake will be pulling double duty as host and musical guest on the first SNL of 2014. Drake will be following up the beloved pairing of Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake. Meanwhile, it has been announced that Melissa McCarthy will host the Super Bowl weekend show with musical guest Imagine Dragons.
Saturday Night Live is not the only thing returning tonight. Drake will be getting back to his roots as an actor, when he hosts the sketch series.
Don’t worry, the rapper will also be performing as musical guest. This is Drake’s second time as musical guest but first time as host.
Drake will have some big shoes to fill. The most recent episode of the series starred SNL vet Jimmy Fallon and his partner in crime, Justin Timberlake. Fallon and Timberlake are highly regarded as one of the greatest pairs in SNL history.
In other Saturday Night Live news, Melissa McCarthy will be hosting the show on Super Bowl weekend with a musical guest Imagine Dragons.
The official Saturday Night Live Twitter account broke the news:
“Get excited because #MelissaMcCarthy is set to host #SNL Feb. 1st with musical guest, @imaginedragons!! #CantWait”
McCarthy is expected to be plugging her two new 2014 movies, Tammy with Dan Aykroyd and St. Vincent De Van Nuys with Bill Murray. Hopefully one or both of the stars will join her on the stage.
