Well, one of the downsides of having Wonder Woman join the cast of Batman Vs Superman is that the CW’s WW prequel series, Amazon, is being put on the back burner. However, Fox’s Batman origin series, Gotham, is alive and well. New plot details about the show were released earlier this week.
If you were hoping to catch a new, non-Lynda Carter live action Wonder Woman anytime soon, then you are going to have to wait until Batman Vs Superman.
Despite Carter’s recent desire to see the Amazonian princess back on the small screen, the CW has decided to put its planned Wonder Woman prequel series Amazon on hold.
The show has been in development for years with its fate in a state of ebb and flow. Now it has been confirmed that the show is going back into purgatory for a while. CW President Mark Pedowitz broke the news at the Television Critics Association, this week:
"It all depends on the script. We were very careful with Arrow and we're being very careful with Flash. These are iconic characters so we're going to be very careful with Wonder Woman. You only get one shot before you get bit."
Hopefully, if BvS goes well, a new fire will be lit under the Wonder Woman franchise.
However, the upcoming Fox Batman prequel series Gotham is still going strong. Fox’s chairman, Kevin Reilly, spoke about the new show at Fox’s Television Critics Association panel, telling the press:
"This is all of the classic Batman characters. It follows the arc of how they all became what they were. I've read the script its really good. It's going to be this operatic soap that has a slightly larger-than-life quality."
