Just a few years after the death of music icon Whitney Houston, her daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, announced that she was marrying Nick Gordon. Considering that Gordon was considered her adopted brother, this has drawn some criticism. According to new reports, Whitney's mom, Cissy Houston, disapproves of their union.
Whitney Houston may have considered Nick as her "adopted" son, but Bobbi certainly doesn't view him as a brother. In fact, the two were actually married a week ago.
When it was revealed that Bobbie and Nick were dating, it ruffled more than a few feathers. Turns out that Nick was also raised by Whitney from the age of 12.
Now that they're both grown up, the two have decided to say, "I do." This isn't weird at all, as Bobbi points out on her Facebook, via News Day:
"I'm tired of hearing people say, 'Eww, you're engaged to your brother' or 'If Whitney [were] still alive, would [you] be together' or 'Would she approve of this?' Let me clear up something, we aren't even real brother and sister nor is he my adoptive brother. My mom never adopted him. In fact, mommy was the one who even said that she knew that we were going to start dating. My mom knows me better than any of you."
Her mom might have understood, but her grandma definitely doesn't, according to TMZ. The gossip site told its readers that despite claims to the contrary, Cissy is upset by the whole affair:
"Bobbi Kristina and her 'adopted' brother/new husband SAY Grandma Cissy Houston gave them her blessing to tie the knot...but we're told that couldn't be further from the truth...But our Houston family sources say they were at the party...neither BK nor Nick ever asked Cissy for her approval....In fact we're told Granny Houston was PISSED when she found out the two tied the knot last week..."
