It’s been one blow after another for Disney diva Britney Spears ever since announcing her two year residency in Las Vegas. She has faced criticism for everything from ticket price to her lip-syncing when she’s dancing. Now, there is discussion that Katy Perry, who is rumored to be engaged to John Mayer, and her roar will be replacing Britney this summer at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino
Britney Spears has been under the microscope, since the moment she announced that she would be performing 100 shows over two years at the Planet Hollywood in Sin City.
People have questioned her outfits, her ticket prices, her physical appearance and her decision to lip sync during the show.
Even her manager felt that he needed to address the rumors that Britney wasn’t going to be singing by herself at all during the Vegas shows to OK! Magazine:
“Larry Rudolph confirmed that during songs when Britney is dancing throughout, she’ll be accompanied by a vocal track--‘but there won’t be lip-syncing across the board on anything.’”
Since Britney Spears contract gives her long stretches of the summer off, the executives at Caesars Entertainment, which owns the Las Vegas venue, are talking to Katy Perry about possibly filling in during her absence.
Perry’s knock out private New Year’s Eve performance for Caesar's high rollers is what prompted the company to approach her with the offer.
An executive with the company told The Las Vegas Sun that her response was a little difficult to decipher (via OK! Magazine):
“She told us she loved the theater and seeing Britney perform there on opening night.”
One might surmise that Perry is too busy making wedding plan to think about any long running show dates.
She and beau John Maher recently brought all their friends out to visit them in Hawaii, fueling rumors even among their friends, that the pair is reading for an engagement announcement, according to Life & Style:
"John and Katy flew about 12 of their closest friends to Hawaii. They wanted it to be very special, so they flew them on a private plane. John is usually so private so the fact that he flew all his friends in to be with them was very special. John and Katy greeted all of them with huge smiles and hugs and told them she wanted each one of them with her and John in Hawaii and that she loved them all."
Britney should probably pray that the love birds stay in Hawaii
