Warning Spoilers Follow*** Archer is back and it is badder than ever. The hit animated FX show is just like Breaking Bad. The fifth season of the show is taking a drastic twist, transforming all the agents of ISIS into dangerous criminals. The new season is now, known as Archer: Vice.
If you missed last nights season five premiere of Archer then you missed a lot. Not only did one of the cast members die (Spoiler Alert, it is the one who is always getting shot), but they changed the entire theme of the show.
Don’t worry, we still be getting all the same smart mouth action that we came to know and love, but ISIS is no more. The (unlicensed) secret government agency, was raided by the FBI and subsequently shut down.
However, Mallory Archer and the gang happen to have about $50 Million worth of cocaine on their hands, you know for secret agent reasons.
Now the former agents, turned drug-pushers, are working on a plan to sell off their stash, setting them up for a grand adventure.
The voice of Archer, H. Jon Benjamin, recently spoke to The Daily Beast about the theme shift:
“When I first heard about it, I was psyched. We take it on the road, and so much crazy shit happens this season. It’s insane. It’s like Breaking Bad meets Miami Vice.”
The new shift from agents to criminals opens up so many possibilities for Archer and the gang.
Archer airs Monday nights on Fx at 10 p.m. followed by the new animated comedy, Chozen. Chozen, stars Saturday Night Live’s Bobby Moynihan and is produced by the same people who brought you HBO’s Eastbound and Down.
