It was four years ago that Dirty Dancing legend Patrick Swayze tragically lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. At the time of her loss it seemed the love of his life, wife Lisa Niemi might never love again, though he convinced her, before he passed that she must. Now, 18 months into dating boyfriend Albert DePrisco, the two announce their engagement.
Lisa announced through her rep that she and 58-year-old jeweler Albert Deprisco were engaged.
Lisa Niemi and Patrick Swayze’s marriage was one of the longest lasting in Hollywood history.
Niemi first met Swayze at her mother's dance studio, when she was 15 and he was 20.
The couple was married for 34 years and stuck by each other through thick and thin to the very end.
She talked about their flirtatious first encounter with GMA co-anchor Robin Roberts back in 2010 (via ABC):
“He is supposed to have this big head, be a Casanova. And we’re like, ‘I’m not going to let this guy get to me.’ So, and of course, the first thing he did our first contact, was he pinched me on the rear as I was passing by and said, ‘Hey cutie.’ And so, of course, later on when he asked me out, I said yes.”
Swayze was even thinking of her welfare to the very end, a close friend explains to Star:
“During Patrick's last few days, he made Lisa promise she would find love again. I’m sure he’s up there smiling down on her.”
