Fast and Furious 7 star Paul Walker was cast to star in the remake of the 2007 film Hitman, Agent 47. Rupert Friend of Homeland fame is set to replace the star according to multiple Hollywood reports. This new update comes only days after the release of Walker's full autopsy.
The movie which had not yet started filming doesn’t have a concrete script, but centers around an international assassin for hire that becomes embroiled in an international political conspiracy, after taking a job for an entity known only as “The Organization”.
The film’s production stalled with the death of Walker. Without Rupert Friend’s involvement, it is unlikely the film would have been made according to Variety:
“Fox International and Square Enix were the driving forces in getting the film up and running. Walker’s commitment was a major part of the film getting a greenlight, and after the actor died it looked as if this film would not be able to move forward, since the production start date was set for February and there was no major star involved.”
It is likely that the deal was brokered a little while ago, but the studio wanted to wait for Walker’s full autopsy to be released.
The tragic report revealed that Walker didn’t survive long from the trauma of the crash, though he was not killed be the immediate impact of the crash (via NY Daily Times):
“Walker sustained jaw, collar bone, rib and pelvic fractures and had ‘scant soot’ in his trachea, suggesting he at least partially inhaled some of the smoke.”
The is still no official word as to who will fill in for Walker for any remaining shots of the Fast and Furious 7.
