Actress Idina Menzel Wants ‘Wicked’ Film; Divorcing Cheating 10 Year Husband Taye Diggs

Idina Menzel, the actress known for her amazing voice in box office smash hit Frozen, has been pretty vocal lately, when pressed, about her desire to reprise her original Wicked role in the new film adaptation. The role she doesn’t want to reprise, however, is that of wife to cheating husband Taye Diggs. The couple announced they are getting a divorce and ending their 10 year marriage.

Idina Menzel is hot off the success of Frozen and preparing to star in a new D.C. musical If/Then. But, that isn’t the only role on her mind.

The 42-year-old actress has mentioned, in more than one recent interview, that she would like to reprise one of the roles that helped make her famous in the first place, that of the green-faced witch, Elphaba, in the bud-screen adaption of Wicked.

She told Inquirer.net in an interview just days before the award winning musical turned ten, just how much taking on the role again would mean to her:

“All I ever hear is it’s in development and that Kristen Chenoweth and myself will be way too old to play the roles, so maybe I’ll play the witch’s mom or something...You don’t have that lightning in a bottle very often--so, sure, I’d like to be in the movie. I keep telling them, just CGI some wrinkles. I’m green, so who cares?”

Menzel has been much less vocal about any desires to reconcile with her husband of ten years, Taye Diggs, who has been seen publicly philandering since the two announced their formal separation a few weeks ago.

Menzel has been tight lipped since the public separation, but did open about the marital struggles to People a few months before the split was official:

"We work at it, I'm not going to glamorize it or glorify it--we go through tough times like everybody else, but we love each other very much. We try not to be away from each other for more than two weeks at a time, and we try to find new ways to communicate."

Apparently, she is done communicating with anyone about all that now, and who could blame her?
