'American Horror Story' Season 4 Theme Clue Hunt Countdown and 'Coven' Spin-Off [UPDATE]

Well, Easter is still a few months away but have no fear scavenger hunt fans. The new clues are coming for the Season 4 of American Horror Story. The hit FX series is wrapping up the last three episodes of its current season, Coven. We also have an update on the rumored Coven spin-off series.

There are only three more episodes of American Horror Story: Coven and that means the clue hunt for next year’s theme has begun. Wednesday's new episode will feature the very first hint at next year's theme. So AHS addicts get your DVRs ready.

Little is known about the next season, except for a few details revealed by series creator Ryan Murphy, when he recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the location of the next season:

“It’s not contemporary...It’s either going to shoot in New Orleans or it’s going to shoot in Santa Fe.”

The series was originally planning to break the anthology format in order to expand on the world of Coven, in a spin-off. However, the spin-off was quickly killed after the crew revealed that it was taking away from the fun of the season as Murphy went on to add:

“We were starting to break episode 8 or 9 and we were like, ‘Well, we can’t kill that person off because we need them for the spin-off.’ As soon as those words were said, I was like, ‘There is no spinoff.’ Because it took away from the joy of the show. The reason the show is successful is no one is safe ever.”

Sadly, this next season will be the last for series regular Jessica Lange. Lange will only appear in a much smaller role for next year. Meanwhile, other series tentpoles, Dylan McDermott and Zachary Quinto, have yet to appear this year. Could this week be the week they finally stop by? Tune in this Wednesday to find out.
