There is a new exciting chapter in the pregnant man story. One-time woman Thomas Beatie has had so many children so quickly that he is literally bursting at the seams. After delivering three babies during his last marriage, he is having his new girlfriend give birth to the fourth child.
Beatie surprised and confused the whole world back in 2008, when he announced that he was pregnant.
The 39-year-old shop manager has lived as a man for the past 17 years, but chose to keep his female reproductive organs.
He has three healthy children with his first wife, but they eventually dissolved their marriage.
When he found a new love, 43-year-old Amber Nicholas, he was hoping to combine their two families, she also has two children of her own, by having one more baby with her.
Doctors had to talk Beatie out of having the baby himself, because it could kill him. He told In Touch that his body was just no longer up to it:
“I suffered a hernia after having three pregnancies so close together. It would have been risky going through another one.”
Besides, if he had the baby himself, he would have problems on account of the male genitalia he had surgically constructed in 2012.
Not only is it better for the couple's relationship, no one likes scars, as he explained to In Touch:
“The operation meant I would have needed a cesarean, which I didn’t want. Now i can just focus on Amber’s needs.”
Spin it however he likes, Beatie should have taken it like a man and given birth to that baby.
