‘50 Shades of Grey’ Movie Rumors and News: Following Charlie Hunnam Christian Grey, Trilogy In Dispute [UPDATE]

Rumors are always flying when it comes to the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie. Now, numerous media outlets are at odds over whether or not EL James’ books will be a trilogy or combined into one single film. The newest dispute follows Charlie Hunnam abandoning the much coveted role of Christian Grey.

The film studio responsible for bringing EL James’ erotic novels to the big screen has been noticeably secretive about the flick. While little is known about the movie, IMDB did provide the following description of the 2015 release:

“When Anastasia Steele, a literature student, goes to interview the wealthy Christian Grey, as a favor to her roommate Kate Kavanagh, she encounters a beautiful, brilliant and intimidating man. The innocent and naive Ana startled to realize she wants him, despite his enigmatic reserve and advice, she finds herself desperate to get close to him. Not able to resist Ana's beauty and independent spirit, Christian Grey admits he wants her too, but in his own terms. Ana hesitates as she discovers the singular tastes of Christian Grey- despite of the embellishments of success--his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family--Grey is consumed by the need to control everything. As they get close Ana starts to discover Christian Grey's secrets and explores her own desires.”

This description, along with other hints given, lead fans to believe that the film would only be covering the first book in the three-part series.

Last week, however, Perez Hilton claimed that there would only be one film made. According to the gossip blogger, the three novels will be combined into one sex-filled romp:

“The Fifty Shades Of Grey movie is one highly anticipated book adaptation! Unfortunately for fans, the key word here might be "one." According to multiple reports, the movie script has condensed the entire trilogy into just one story, meaning there will be no Fifty Shades Darker or Fifty Shades Freed movies.”

Unfortunately, not everyone is in agreement. Gossip site TooFab claims that the movie studio will be producing a film for each book in the series:

“We reached out to Universal, who confirmed to toofab that the report is indeed false. Phew, that means Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed will all get their own full-feature treatment...as long as the first flick isn't a total flop!”
