Warning Spoilers Follow! Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier is arguably one of the most highly anticipated new films of 2014. With just a few months and a couple of reshoots to go before the movie's April premiere, fans can not get enough of the formerly frozen Avenger. Now a new photo featuring Cap in his old suit and his new partner in crime fighting, Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, has been released. Meanwhile, just like the Falcon, a new rumor is flying that says that Steve Rodgers might die and Chris Evans will be replaced as Captain America.
Brand new photos from Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier have been released. The photos feature Captain America (Chris Evans) in his The First Avenger costume as well as the newest Avenger, Falcon (Anthony Mackie). Chris Evans recently spoke to L.A. Times about his partnership with Mackie:
“For Steve, it’s about what is right. He’s relatively acclimated to the modern day--it’s not tech shock anymore, he’s not just like, ‘What’s a cellphone?’ It’s more about, given his situation, given the company he works for, what are we doing that’s the right thing? How much privacy, civil liberties are we willing to compromise for security? It’s pretty crazy how relevant it is right now.’ Meeting [Anthony] Mackie’s character, he used to serve, now he works at the VA counseling guys who come home with PTSD--they connect on that level. I think they’re both wounded warriors who don’t bleed on other people. Cap has no one to bleed on. I think Mackie knows how to handle people like that…Sometimes when things are bad, trusting a stranger is the way to go.”
However, the partnership between Falcon and Cap might not last too long. Rumor has it that Captain America might die in either this film or Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, and be replaced by The Winter Soldier. Where this move would echo the comic book storyline, we will just have to wait and see to know for sure.
