Well, the family that could do no wrong, did wrong. And, because they refused to apologize, they have been forgiven. Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. The bearded family of A&E’s Duck Dynasty are back with a reinstated Phil Robertson, even though not one person ever said they were sorry for his derogatory gay comments.
Phil Robertson ruffled a few feathers weeks ago with his comment about homosexuals and hell in a recent interview with GQ:
“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men...They won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right...It’s not logical.”
But no one in his family batted an eye or apologized. In fact, when Phil was suspended they all walked, releasing on official statement ending things (via Life&Style):
“As a family, we cannot imagine the show without our patriarch at the helm.”
But that's all over now. A&E said they were sorry and reinstated Phil, and he agreed to come back.
So what has changed? Nothing, according to family CEO Willie Roberts. According to In Touch, Willie thinks everyone is ready to move past it:
“We’re just glad to be back to work; A&E and us are fine. I think we all learned a lot, and we are just ready to move on. The family is happy. The Robertsons are looking forward to making some funny shows.”
It seems doubtful that everyone who has weighed in on or been affected by this has “moved on.” Though, we certainly did all learn a lot.
