Rumors continue to fly when it comes to the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie. This week is no different, as many fans fear that inclement weather will see the film’s release date pushed back for a second time. Will we have to wait even longer to see Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson’s Anastasia Steele?
Don’t worry fans, the producers aren’t set to push back the release date (for a second time) anytime soon--even if that means shooting the film at an alternate location.
As it turns out, that’s exactly what’s happening. Global Post is reporting that the filmmakers and talent will be headed down to Florida, as a direct result of the terrible weather Vancouver is receiving:
“The production team for the Fifty Shades of Grey movie has decided to shoot scenes in Miami this week after cancelling filming in Vancouver, Canada, due to bad weather, representatives of the production company told Efe…Stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson will spend two weeks in Miami shooting scenes, many of which will be filmed in the South Florida city's downtown.”
Fans were understandably concerned, considering the release date has been pushed back once before.
Back in November, Donna Langley, a chairman of Universal Pictures, granted an interview with Entertainment Weekly, where she confirmed that the film’s release date would be delayed by six months:
"We've been looking really closely at the August date and becoming more and more convinced that the right thing to do for the movie was to push it. So even if Charlie had stayed, we still would have been making the date change.”
Donna was clearly referencing Charlie Hunnam’s last-minute decision to abandon the role of Christian Grey. Last month, the studio announced that:
“The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.”
That’s good news for fans of EL James’ best-selling erotic novel, who just can’t wait to see their favorite book come to life.
