K-Pop Super Junior Leeteuk Leader Family Killed by Father In Murder Suicide

Officials with the South Korean police have announced that the death of Super Junior leader Leeteuk’s family was not the result of a car accident as earlier reported. They are saying that the k-pop star’s father committed suicide and he murdered his own elderly parents.

The singer’s agency SM Entertainment issued a statement that his 57-year-old parent, along with 84-year-old grandfather and 79-year-old grandmother, were killed in a fatal car accident in an attempt to shield the star from any bad press.

The police have released contradictory reports, however.

Though they are still investigating all the circumstances surrounding the deaths, police have reported that they found the grandparent strangled in their beds with the blankets covering their heads. The father was found in elsewhere in the apartment, apparently having hung himself according to the official's statements (via The Star):

“After our initial investigation of the scene, we believe that Park first strangled his parents and then killed himself, however, we are still investigating the situation to confirm our suspicions.”

This unfortunately is not an isolated incident of violence. The 30-year-old star reluctantly admitted on a TV programme back in 2012, that he has always been fearful og his father(via The Star):

“I was often beaten up and my parents would argue often. Father was just a scary figure to me at the time.”

Leeteuk, who is fulfilling his obligatory term in the army, was allowed to attend the funeral today, but will have to immediately return to service.

We at Offbeat extend our deepest condolences during this tragic time.
