Dove Cameron is quickly making a name for herself. Not only does the 17-year-old singer/actress pull double duty in the Disney Channel hit series, Liv and Maddie, but she's also starring in the new made for TV movie, Cloud 9. However, unlike on Liv and Maddie, Cameron won’t be playing opposite herself. Cameron’s co-star is Good Luck Charlie’s Luke Benward. The film is a little more than one week away from release, so we thought we would catch you up to date on all the latest plot details.
Before Dove Cameron was either Liv or Maddie, the up-and-coming actress filmed the Disney Channel original movie Cloud 9. Now the movie is finally being released as part of the DC’s JaNEWary event.
The film’s official IMDB page offers up a plot summary, stating:
“Cloud 9 follows Kayla, a prima donna snowboarder who was just unceremoniously dropped from her team and forced to train with Will, a former snowboarding champion who's struggling after a career-ending wipe-out. A video capturing it went viral, branding him an ‘epic fail’ on the Internet. Now, as Kayla trains with Will to redeem her stature, Will creates a training regimen that tests whether she's really committed to rise to the challenge of professional competition. Meanwhile, Kayla must somehow maneuver to inspire Will to overcome his biggest obstacle--self-doubt.”
Cameron is obviously supertalented. In addition to starring as both characters in Liv and Maddie, she also performs the theme song, “Better In Stereo.” However, she recently told BOP & Tiger Beat that neither twin is really her better half:
“I wouldn’t say I’m anything like Live OR Maddie. The twins have definitely inherited some of my habits i.e., Liv bites her lip, Maddie snorts when she laughs. But that’s about all the relation I have to either character.”
Cloud 9 premires, Friday January 17.
