The 28-year-old spunky actress Troian Bellisario feels like her cast of Pretty Little Liars are more like family than co-workers. Perhaps that is why the crew showed solidarity in the outrage expressed over the highly photoshopped promo poster for Season 4.
Troian said that her relationship with show co-stars Lucy Hale, 24, Shay Mitchell, 26, and Ashley Benson, 24, goes far beyond just working with each other.
The foursome talk to each other like they’ve been sisters forever. Bellisario, who originally hails from L.A., told Us Weekly that the cast go to each other about things big and small:
“We go to each other with questions like, ‘What do I do with my life?’...They ask me for advice.”
So it should come as no surprise that Troian recently backed Ashley’s play, when she publicly expressed her disgust of Winter promotional posters for their upcoming season.
The poster features all four girls in red dresses with windswept hair and a caption beneath that reads, “New truth. New enemy. New year.” That’s cool.
What wasn’t cool to Benson was the way the poster’s designer had drastically altered their appearances.
She expressed her view on Twitter that the poster promoted an unattainable body image to viewers:
“Saw this floating around. Hope it’s not the poster. Our faces in this were from 4 years ago...and we all look ridiculous. Way too much Photoshop. We all have flaws. No one looks like this. It’s not attractive.”
Like a true sister Troian didn’t waste anytime getting her back via tweet:
“Wow @itsashbenzo I couldn’t agree more. Very cool concept as always. But aren’t we attractive enough women as we are? Why can’t we just look like us. Once.”
Now, that’s girl power.
