Thor star Chris Hemsworth is opening up about fighting his little brother Liam Hemsworth. The younger Hemsworth was originally up for the role of Thor, before Chris swooped in and took the part. However, Chris is now turning down roles in order to spend time with family. Chris’ wife Elsa Pataky is pregnant with the couple's second child.
Chris Hemsworth is Thor. It is hard to imagine anyone else in the role, however, he almost wasn't cast. In a recent interview with W, Chris Hemsworth reveals that he originally got turned down for the role:
"I auditioned for Thor, and I didn't get called back. I was intimidated by the director, Kenneth Branagh. To me, he is Shakespeare.”
However, Chris’ little brother, Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth, faired a lot better in his audition:
“My brother, Liam, was luckier. He was one of the final five guys up for the part."
Chris’ manager wasn’t about to let Liam swoop in and get the part:
"My manager said, 'If you liked Liam, maybe you'll also like his older brother. [The second] time, I was pissed off. I didn't care about Shakespeare anymore; swagger got me the part."
However, the Hemsworth brothers are not interchangeable. Last year, Chris spoke to Ellen DeGeneres about the differences in their lifestyles, while Liam was being hounded by paparazzi:
“We've been lucky, my wife and I. We kind of live a pretty simple boring kind of life. We're not rolling out of clubs at 4 in the morning. Not to say that Liam is by the way...I mean he has once or twice."
Chris is also about to slow things down a little more, now that he is expecting a second child.
