There is no question that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the most highly anticipated new movies of 2014. The real question is, who in the world are the Guardians of the Galaxy? The group is not the most well known bunch in the Marvel roster. They have never had their own cartoon or Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade float, and until recently, you would've been hard pressed to find their faces on any lunch boxes. Still, people have learned to throw money at Marvel and Marvel is throwing the full force of the Disney machine behind the rag-tag group of unknowns. The studio is slowly introducing us to the gang. Where we have yet to be shown an official trailer, (we assume this is because the massive amounts of CGI that is involved) Marvel has released a brand new photo of the cast. Speaking of cast, the latest incarnation of Venom has recently joined GOTG in the comics. However, don’t look for him in the new film. Venom instead will be getting his own Amazing Spider-Man spin-off over at Sony Pictures.
You might not know who the Guardians of the Galaxy are now, but you will soon enough. Expect to be bombarded with of ton of promotions, including action figures and possibly even a cartoon series, as the movie gets closer and closer to its August release date.
The little known group of space heroes has recently started showing up in Marvel’s Disney XD Cartoon series, Ultimate Spider-man and Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes, sparking rumors that they may soon have their own Cartoon series. No such series has been announced, but Marvel surely knows how to market. If they think they can make money off it, then rest assured they will.
Meanwhile, the comic book incarnation of the group will be getting a new member. Venom (Flash Thompson) will be joining the gang. Venom (Eddie Brock) will also be getting his very own movie. Sony has decided to move ahead with it’s Amazing Spider-Man spin-off films.
