Looks like Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas may not be engaged after all. Despite rumors to the contrary, the couple spent the holidays apart. Will there really be a royal wedding in 2014?
According to Vanity Fair, don’t expect to hear Harry and Cressida say “I do” anytime soon.
While it was rumored that Cressida and Harry would be spending the holidays together with the royal family, it now appears that the two didn’t even see each other, as the site states:
“Cressida did not end up joining the crowded royal assemblage over Christmas, as had been rumored. And it’s now somewhat unclear whether Harry even invited her, as, per the Telegraph, Harry would have known ‘it would not be appropriate for Miss Bonas to join the Royal family for Christmas until they are a married couple.’”
The controversial publication went on to suggest what Cressida might have been doing instead:
“Anyway, Cressy stayed home with her family for Christmas, presumably refreshing Harry’s private Instagram every few minutes under the table…”
Wow. That’s a pretty speculative statement for such a major publication to make, even in jest.
Unfortunately, it’s this sort of speculation that lead to the misinformation to begin with. Even Huffington Post reported that the couple would be spending Christmas together:
“The Express notes that it won't be Cressie's first visit to Sandringham (she's come for two other shoots), but it's certainly her first with the queen being present. The reported invite comes after weeks of engagement chatter, with more and more rumors that Harry and Cressie are getting serious enough for a possible engagement in 2014.”
This report comes months after speculation that Cressida and Harry will soon be engaged. In fact, Grazia has reported that Prince Harry has already asked Cressida’s father, Jeffrey, for her hand in marriage:
“It seems that Harry and Cressida have spoken about marriage, he wanted to do the honorable thing and meet her father to let Jeffrey know his intentions before he went to the South Pole. It’s always scary meeting your girlfriend’s father, but Harry knows how close Cressida is to her family.”
