Despite a year spent battling Jessica Biel divorce and cheating rumors, Justin Timberlake still wound up on top. The singer/dancer/actor took home the award for Best Selling Album with his hit 20/20 Experience. His sales were enough to even beat Miley Cyrus’ new album, Bangerz.
That means it’s good news for Justin Timberlake, but not for the record industry as a whole. While Timberlake took home the accolade, the record industry saw exactly how damaged it has become, as Huffington Post explains:
“At the midyear point, Justin Timberlake's 20/20 Experience was 2013's best-selling album. Now that the year has concluded, Timberlake maintains that honor, having sold nearly 2.5 million copies. That's an impressive figure for Timberlake but a depressing one for the music industry as a whole, as Nielsen SoundScan hasn't seen a No. 1 album sell that few copies in its 22-year history.”
Though, things haven’t been perfect for Justin either. The A list celeb spent most of the year denying cheating allegations.
Still, the tabloids have yet to relent in their allegations, as evidenced by a recent edition of OK! Magazine. One source, who caught the couple checking out of a hotel, told the publication that the couple has been trying to put up a united front:
“There were a ton of screaming fans waiting for pictures. But Jessica got into this huge rant about how they needed to leave through the front door so they would be seen happy together.”
Of course, a little bickering doesn’t sell tabloids, so the publication went on claim that Justin’s alleged cheating has contributed to their potential breakup:
“Even though [Justin] says he hasn’t cheated, she is very suspicious and wants to know what she can use against him in court if it comes to that.”
