It might be a little bit past their bedtime, but the Powerpuff Girls are back to save the world. The beloved child heroes, The Powerpuff Girls, are teaming up with Professor Utonium once again to take on Mojo Jojo to save Ringo Star of the Beatles, in an all CGi reboot special.
The City of Townsville is under attack once again by the villainous Mojo Jojo. This time things might look a bit different. The all new 2014 Powerpuff Girls special is presented in CGI.
However, all the promos assure us that hey haven’t touched the formula (Formula X). Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles are coming back out of retirement one last time to save Beatles' drummer, Ringo Starr, from Mojo Jojo.
An official press release from Cartoon Network explains the plot of the episode titled, “Dance Pantsed:”
“In 'Dance Pantsed,' why is Mojo Jojo kidnapping a mathematician, an opera singer and a badger? To steal Chemical X, of course, and to finally take over Townsville. But when the Powerpuff Girls thwart his plan, he invents an evil video game called ‘Dance Pants R-EVILution’ to control their minds and bodies to fulfill his evil plot! The Professor must visit his dark dancing past to save his girls so they can save all of Townsville!”
Fans of the series will remember the Beatles reference from earlier episodes, including the supergroup known as The Beat-Alls. Even Mojo Jojo’s name harkens back to a Beatles song.
The new special will air on January 20. For anyone jonesing for some of the old school episodes, Cartoon Network will be running a marathon of the series before the special, as their press release goes on to detail:
“Leading-up to the premiere of ‘Dance Pantsed,’ Cartoon Network is showcasing ten classic episodes of The Powerpuff Girls for a five-hour marathon on Sunday, January 19 beginning at 12 p.m. (ET/PT).”
