Tonight is the night for fans of NBC’s cult comedy Community. The long awaited premiere of Season 5 will be kicked off with two brand new episodes. This season, Castle and Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog star Nathan Fillion will be joining the cast in a special guest role.
Community kicks off the new season tonight with two brand new episodes. The series is planning a fifth season soft reboot of the show.
The official synopsis for the first episode, titled “Repilot,” reads:
“In the Season 5 premiere, Jeff returns to Greendale to collect evidence for a lawsuit. Upon hearing news of Jeff's visit, the Dean organizes a reunion for the study group in hopes that Jeff is back to help save the school.”

The synopsis for the second episode, titled "Introduction to Teaching" states:
“Professor Hickey shows Jeff the ropes at Greendale and gives him advice for handling rowdy students; and Abed convinces the study group to take a new class with Professor Garrity.”

The hit series will see a few new cast changes this year. Chevy Chase‘s character Pierce Hawthorne will not be a part of the study group this year. Chase left last year after problems on the set that lead to an inadvertent racist rant. Chase spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about his disdain for the show:
“The hours are hideous, and it’s still a sitcom on television, which is probably the lowest form of television. That’s my feeling about it. I think the reason I have stuck around is because I love these kids, the cast--they are very good. It’s not like I am working with the great innovators of all time.”
However, Castle’s Nathan Fillion will be making an appearance as a janitor in the new season. Here is hoping that he joins the cast.
