‘Idol’ Judge Producer Randy Jackson Leaves Show After 12 Seasons; Hired as New Mentor on ‘American Idol’ Season 13

It has been a big year for former American Idol judge Randy Jackson. The famous music producer announced earlier this year that he would be leaving the show after 12 seasons to focus on his own entertainment company. The 57-year-old recently announced that he has a new gig as mentor on the Season 13 of American Idol.

Randy Jackson, the only judge that still remained from the original Idol lineup, announced that after a dozen years with the show, it was inevitability time for him to move on to other projects. Jackson told Us Weekly back in May, that it was time to focus on other things:

"Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol. I have decided it is time to leave after this season. I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It's been a life changing opportunity, but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.”

Thankfully, the reality star has not had to wait long before finding a big payday. Jackson finally announced his next big career move on American Idol’s official website:

“Surprise, surprise! I am so happy to be back as part of this amazing show that started it all,” said Randy Jackson. “Season 1-3 is the place to be. The original talent show is back with a vengeance and ready to discover the best talent in America.”

Thankfully he has once again found a home for his talent.
