Warning: Spoilers for Batman: Arkham Origins! Could it be? Could fans of the Batman: Arkham series finally get some long awaited DLC for Batman: Arkham Origins? A new teaser image for tonight’s big announcement has been revealed, and it seems to suggest that Mr. Freeze could be coming to the prequel series.
Recently, the official Batman: Arkham Facebook captured fans of the critically acclaimed game series, when it teased a big New Year’s Eve announcement:
"Visit this page on December 31 for a special announcement...more details to come next week!"
The message was accompanied by a photo of what looked like a Wonder City-style sign that read, “Save the Date 12, 31, 2013.”
Now a new teaser has been revealed. An invitation to Gotham’s Humanitarian of the Year Awards has been posted on the Facebook page:
“You are cordially invited to the Humanitarian of the Year Awards at the Wayne Manor on New Year's Eve. #ArkhamOrigins”
Fans of Batman: The Animated Series might remember that it was at the Humanitarian of the Year Awards that Victor Fries, A.K.A Victor Freeze, sought revenge on industrialist CEO Ferris Boyle, in the 1992 origin episode titled “Heart of Ice.”
Batman: The Animated Series revamped origins of Mr. Freeze that were instrumental in shaping who Mr. Freeze is today. The Batman: Arkham series has also tied in heavily with the animated series before, with the first two games in the series featuring the voice talents of the original Batman, Kevin Conroy and Joker, Star Wars legend, Mark Hamill.
It is also worth noting that in the game Arkham Origins, which takes place on Christmas, that the Joker had planned a series of snowman bombs for New Years day. Batman managed to set off the bombs earlier, but could the snowman inclusion be a further hint that the new DLC will be about Mr. Freeze? Here is hoping the Batsoup is one of the game's new gadgets.
