Jherek Bischoff's 'Composed, Featuring David Byrne and Zola Jesus,' Getting Two Live Shows at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn

Composer, performer, impresario and all-around new music polymath Jherek Bischoff will be featured during two upcoming shows at St. Ann's Warehouse to celebrate his latest (and possibly greatest) album, Composed.

Even better? Talking Head/99%-er David Byrne (whom, incidentally, Classicalite recently spotted at Nico Muhly's Two Boys at the Met) will be performing, also. And if Byrne's only half as good as his show was at the Obies, you'll be glad you went.

Better still, you ask? Classicalite fave Nika Roza Danilova (a.k.a. Miss Zola Jesus, herself) is scheduled to transubstantiate on Jay Street, too.

Rounding out these do-not-miss bills, both of 'em backed by the Contemporaneous Chamber Orchestra, are Norwegian wunderkind Sondre Lerche, Deerhoof's Greg Saunier and the incomparable Mirah Zeitlyn.

Composed--originally, well, composed on a ukulele--soon became a traveling endeavor, as Bischoff compensated for his lack of money to hire an orchestra by recording on-the-go.

Here, then, is but an intro:

Yes, Bischoff spent a summer biking around Seattle with a microphone and a laptop in his backpack, stopping at various musicians’ houses and capturing their performances--one track at a time to layer later the effect of a real orchestra.

Next, Bischoff took to car, recording vocals from host of indie suprastars: Zeitlyn, Carla Bozulich (Geraldine Fibbers), Craig Wedren (Shudder To Think), Dawn McCarthy (Faun Fables) and Zac Pennington (Parenthetical Girls).
