RNING! This article contains possible spoilers for Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, as well as spoilers for the comic series. New photos from Marvel’s upcoming Captain America 2 have been released and it looks like Chris Evans will be stripped of his trademark shield by none other than The Winter Soldier. Could this be a sign that Bucky Barnes might be joining The Avengers some time in the future or just an illusion to the comics?
Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier is just a few short months away and Empire is bringing all the goods about one of the most anticipated new films of 2014. Chris Evans--A.K.A. Steve Rogers--A.K.A. Captain America--dawns the cover of the magazine.
However, it is Cap's former sidekick-turned-new-film's antagonist that has stole the show...and Cap's shield. A new photo from the issue shows Bucky Barnes, A.K.A The Winter Soldier, wielding Cap's signature weapon.
As fans of the first film recall, this isn’t the first time Sebastian Stan has held the famous shield. The character briefly used Cap's signature weapon just before his supposed death in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger.
Fans of the comic also know that Bucky Barnes eventually replaces Steve Rogers as Captain America before Captain America dies. When Rogers eventualy returns from the grave, he goes on to head S.H.I.E.L.D. Rogers new outfit in the movie also closely resembles his costume at the time as well.
Could this be the first sign that Bucky Barnes will be joining the Avengers, or is this just merely an illusion to the comics? Is Captain America really going to die either in, Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier or maybe even in the Avengers 2: Age of Ultron? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
