For months, rumors have been flying about the cast of the upcoming Warcraft movie. The film, which is based on the hit video game, may see Dominic Cooper join Daniel Wu and others for the upcoming 2016 release date.
News recently broke that Dominic Cooper is in talks with the movie studio that is producing the sure-to-be epic flick.
According to gaming site Polygon, the deal is close to being struck:
“At the time, it was reported that Universal Pictures was also in final stages of negotiation with Dominic Cooper (Captain America, Dead Man Down, Mamma Mia!) to star in the Warcraft adaption.”
If Cooper does take the role, he will find himself in good company. Variety recently reported that action star Daniel Wu signed on as well:
“Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures have added American-Hong Kong actor Daniel Wu and Homefront thesp Clancy Brown to the cast of video game adaptation Warcraft.”
It makes sense that the film doesn’t quite have its cast in order, especially considering they just pushed back their release date, as reported on by IGN:
“Universal announced today that the Duncan Jones-directed 3D fantasy action film--which was originally slated to open opposite Star Wars: Episode VII on December 18, 2015--has been rescheduled for a March 11, 2016 release.”
If you’re not familiar with the flick, maybe you should check out Wikipedia’s (not so) helpful synopsis, which reads in part:
“The film portrays the origin story of the initial encounters between the humans and the orcs, with an emphasis upon empathizing both the Alliance and Horde sides of their conflict. Featuring characters such as Durotan and Lothar, the film will take place in a variety of locations established in the video game series.”
