Country singer Taylor Swift is fast becoming just as well known for her charitable donations, as her poppy hooks. Hot on the heels of the 24-year-old philanthropist, donating $100,000 from her sizable net worth on her recent birthday to save the Nashville Symphony from financial ruin, Swift tops a recent list as the most charitable celebrity giver.
The largest not-for-profit for young people and social change in the U.S., DoSomething.org, puts together a list each year of the country’s top "20 Celebs Gone Good." This year, the winner is the same as last’s. The organization put Taylor Swift right back at the top:
“Tay Tay is at it again. The country-pop star has topped our chart for the second year in a row. And with good reason too, y’all. Swift recently celebrated her 24th birthday by GIVING gifts instead of getting. She donated $100,000 to the Nashville Symphony, which has faced extreme financial difficulties this year. Swift also headlined an event benefiting Centrepoint, an org working to help young people experiencing homelessness.”
Is there any wonder that Tay Tay is being touted as the selfless example all other celebrities should aspire to become? The president of the local musicians’ union, David Pomeroy, thanked and praised the star for her gift:
“Taylor Swift has set a great example, and I hope that others will follow her lead and help ensure that the Nashville Symphony musicians’ salaries can be restored as soon as possible.”
We at Classicalite doff our hats to you Taylor Swift. May you shine as an example to other celebs for years and years to come.
