The struggles and travails of 21-year-old former child star Demi Lovato have been well documented over the past few years. Her 2010 stay in rehab, it seemed, would never leave the news cycle. Not everyone, since then, has been as supportive of her recovery as the Barney & Friends alum would like. On the star's final episode appearing on Simon Cowell's X Factor as judge, Lovato was treated to quite an unpleasant shock instead of a sentimental, respectful send off that she was expecting.
Non-stop jokester Mario Lopez made a fairly provocative comment when teasing that the show’s producer and creator, surly Simon Cowell, found Miss Lovato to be annoying. “Maybe its got something to with what she’s been drinking,” jibed Lopez. This clearly did not sit well with the recovering alcoholic, as an eyewitness recently told Us Magazine:
"Demi turned to Simon and said, ‘What the f---?’ She felt it was offensive.”
Annoying or not, some people might think that treating an alcoholic so cruelly is offensive to everyone. This sadly isn’t the first instance of shade being thrown at the star and her shaky recovery. Miley Cyrus’ assistant, best friend Cheyne Thomas, posted a video on Instagram earlier this month that mocks the star and her struggles with alcoholism and substance abuse. Semi-celebrities can be so mean.
We at Classicalite would like to encourage Demi Lovato in her day to day fight to stay sober in the face of debilitating struggles. Just remember when ugly things are being said about you, that things could always get worse.
