Universal has been scrambling to figure out a way to keep Fast and Furious 7 alive, since the film’s star, Paul Walker, perished in a fatal car crash a few weeks ago. Younger brother Cody, a 25-year-old stunt man, seems the perfect physical match to help finish the picture. While kid brother Cody has yet to take the part, he is in town, of course, if he was to choose to play the role of Walker. This latest news comes after Walker's autopsy results.
Almost immediately following the news of Paul Walker’s death crash, Universal sprang into action. The movie company quickly brought all production to a stand still, while issuing the following statement as speedily as humanly possible:
“Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker.”
While it may be true they are trying to assess all options. There aren't too many options for the company to assess. A source close to the project recently told Mail Online:
“'Producers had a string of meetings right after Paul's death. They soon realized they needed someone who looked like Paul to finish the movie and that's when they approached his nearly identical brother, Cody. They can shoot Cody from behind and at distance and if it's a shot they need Paul's face in close up they can CGI it later on.
While Cody clearly would look like his brother Paul, there is still one worry at the back of everyone's mind. Will Cody ever be able to live up Paul Walkers acting chops. Let us all hope for the franchise that the answer is: sure.
