Mega Millions Lottery Totals for Friday Dec 27 Drawing

Well it appears that everyone was on the naughty list this year or either Santa was all tapped out, after handing out over $700 million in lottery winnings this past month, because no one won the Mega Millions grand prize drawing on Christmas Eve. However, that is good news for anyone who received a ticket for this Friday’s drawing in their stocking this year. Check below for the total amounts for this weekend's MM lotto.

The new Mega Millions total for Friday, December 27,2013 has reached $35 million.

The recent $656 million dollar jackpot has served the state of Georgia well. One of the lotto’s two major grand prize winners was from Stone Mountain, Georgia. The official Mega Millions' website tells the story of one of the winners:

“ATLANTA – It’s the most wonderful time of the year for Ira Curry. The Stone Mountain woman purchased one of two winning jackpot tickets in Tuesday’s $648 million Mega Millions drawing.

"Curry purchased her lucky ticket at Gateway Newstand, 3500 Lenox Road, Atlanta. A second jackpot ticket was sold in California. Curry selected the cash option, which amounts to $173,819,742.50 before taxes for each jackpot winner. Georgia state income tax of 6 percent and federal income tax of 25 percent are withheld from prizes of more than $5,000 at the time the prize is claimed. After final game sales were calculated, the jackpot increased from an advertised $636 million to $648 million.“

Cury wasn’t the only person to claim a prize in Georgia last week. Another lucky winner brought home $1 million in smaller prizes. The MM lotto has been good to Georgia, as the site adds:

“Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.”
