Jennette McCurdy gave fans one last gift this Christmas season when she released a brand new acoustic cover of Katy Perry's hit song, "Unconditional." McCurdy also explained how she got back into the holiday spirit in an open letter she wrote for the Wall Street Journal.
Jennette McCurdy has enough acoustic covers to put out an album. A few of McCurdy’s covers include, One Direction’s “Story of my Life,” Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” Lorde’s “Team,” Rihanna’s “Stay,” Justin Bieber’s “ Mistletoe”, as well the Christmas classics, “Santa Baby” and “ I’ll Be Home For Christmas.” Now McCurdy can add Katy Perry’s “Unconditional” to the list.
McCurdy is not only a talented singer and actress, she is also a prolific writer. McCurdy often contributes essays and blogs to publications like The Wall Street Journal. In her most recent essay, McCurdy opened up about her ebb and flow love affair with Christmas:
“When I was little, however, I believed I had every right to be saddened by the world’s knack for stripping me of my innocence and wonder. But if there was one thing that I shouldn’t have been sad about, it’s Christmas! In a sea of slime and manufactured maturity, Christmas is the one time of year where you are given a free pass to behave like a kid. You can laugh too loud, eat too much, or dress like a fool--and not be ridiculed for your decisions. For this brief time every year, you can be merry and joyful and be called triumphant instead of ignorant. For this brief time every year, you can smile at strangers and smile to yourself and not be considered a loon. For this brief time every year, you’re encouraged to bring out the child in yourself instead of expected to squash it.”
