Marvel has two big movies planned for its Phase Two project of 2014. The company will kick the year off with April's Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, followed by The Guardians of the Galaxy later in the year. Both films lead up to 2015's Avengers 2: Age of Ultron. However, many fans are looking ahead to the company's Phase Three plans. The third Phase will be lead by Ant-Man. Anchorman 2 star Paul Rudd was recently cast as the pint-sized Avenger.
After months of rumors, we finally received word on who will play Ant-Man. Anchorman star Paul Rudd has landed the role. Marvel’s President of Production and Grand Poobah of jibber jabber, Kevin Feige, made the announcement via a press release:
“When Edgar Wright came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd, we felt a huge sense of relief because the first step in creating any Marvel Studio's film is finding the right star. We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we'd ever met with about doing the work, we knew we’d found the right guy. We couldn't be more excited for our audiences to see what he’s going to do to bring Ant-Man to life."
As part of his never ending talking tour of the globe, Feige spoke with Screen Rant about when to expect announcements for the rest of Phase Three films, addressing rumors of Dr. Strange and the Inhumans:
“I think it will be sometime next year; sometime in the first half of next year. First we have to really decide which ones we want to do and both of the ones you named are among the projects we’re talking about."
What do you think about Rudd's casting? In the great tradition of the internet, let us knoe who else you would have picked below.
